Dolphins and sharks
Written by Claire Coughlan
Do great football players make talented coaches?
When players brave the leap, it can sometimes come as a shock that the success they enjoyed on the pitch doesn’t happen for them in the same way as when their role changes.
This is also true in business, where those who have incredible knowledge, skills and experience in what they do technically, can struggle to make the same impact when promoted into a #training role.
Suddenly, passing on their gifts to the next generation of talent can feel like jumping in at the deep end and being forced to sink or swim. Stand up and deliver training to a group of people!!! You must be mad!!!
Does this resonate with you? If so, take heart from the fact that you are not alone and with the right guidance and tools, you can learn to swim with dolphins instead of feel like you are fleeing from sharks. Having the right resources will help you to:
- Translate what you innately know into something tangible and valuable for others
- Support you in a structured way as you step up from ‘player’ to ‘manager’, rather than just through trial and error
To help you on your way, I have put together a really simple document you can use to begin to put a structure to your own training sessions. If you would like a copy, please get in touch. Alternatively, if you would like to find out how we can collaborate with you to develop and deliver learning which is right for you and your business, please get in touch.
