Client background
A well-known financial services organisation needed to implement a learning and development strategy that would empower colleagues by enhancing their skills and equipping them to make a shift from transaction-based roles to proactive and trusted client advisors. The changes in responsibility affected both client-facing and back office teams. Bodhi Consultancy was appointed in 2019 to develop a learning strategy to support future growth plans for the organisation.
The Brief
To significantly reduce the time spent on repetitive, process-driven activities to enable colleagues to focus more on adding value to customer experiences through creative, outcome-driven conversations.
A learning and development strategy was required to support the growth of the company, and the individuals within it, to enable a successful transition and that offered consistent and structured colleague advancement.
The Approach
Bodhi Consultancy carried out an analysis of the workforce needs to underpin the successful transformation of roles; recommending and creating a learning strategy solution that mapped out opportunities for development.
An overarching global learning curriculum was implemented to support progress for colleagues within the company through formal and informal development opportunities across all levels, including management and employees.
The global learning curriculum was created to identify the foundation, technical, behavioural and leadership skills required across all role levels. From this it provided a base to enable quality conversations about learning opportunities associated with career pathways and progression. This provided a clearly defined route to enable skill and career enhancement through accessible and clearly defined learning opportunities.
As part of this, the creation of The Growth Mindset programme was implemented at zero cost to the client. The six-week blended-learning programme was conducted virtually, connecting participants across EMEA, North America and West Indies. Using a variety of learning approaches, such as peer-to-peer coaching, self-led learning, social learning and development planning this was delivered to 48 participants from the most senior leadership downwards.
To further support individual progress, a programme of emotional intelligence training was developed, tested in a pilot study and then rolled out to all colleagues within the business.
The Outcome
By combining informal and formal learning provision, the development solution provided managers with an excellent starting point to discuss career advancement with their teams.
By establishing a clear learning curriculum and framework, colleagues have identified and accessed courses that can further their career and develop their existing skills.
Implementation of these unique programmes have empowered colleagues and managers to:
• Continuously strive for excellence in a culture that is organically driven by a growth mindset and emotionally intelligent behaviours
• Connect across geographies, cultures and disciplines to share knowledge, skills and experiences to the benefit of both clients and colleagues
• Refresh their approach to learning by proactively looking for ways to stretch themselves through taking on new projects, additional responsibilities and formal learning to continue to add value to the client experience and support the growth of the company.
