Moving towards a growth mindset

What’s the one thing you can do right now to move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset?

It’s simple really.

Every time someone voices their opinion, in print, in person or via any means of communication, resist the urge to jump in and say ‘I know’.

When we think in this way, we immediately bring down the shutters to new experiences, opportunities and rich dialogue that could open up a rich tapestry of communication, connection and creativity.

So what should be do instead?

Pause….take a breathe and listen with an open mind. That does not mean you have to accept everything you hear at face value – stay curious, always. However, there is so much we do not know, do not understand and cannot hope to learn if we always insist that we already know.

Listen with an open mind and heart and you may just learn something new about yourself, other people and the world around you.
